Azure Backups GRS Region

Hi all,

One of my customer currently looking at changing our azure backups. to ensure that they are in line with their required data compliance and security for government work.
When they select GRS as the backup type and Aus East or South as the vault, is the data backed up to a region outside Australia or is it replicated to another Australian data centre?

I can see that there’s Azure cross-region replication pairing for all geographies for data. I’m hoping that includes backups.

Can anyone can confirm this?

Thank you

    Hello @Nurhidayati, Risa

Thank you for your heads up.

I would like to provide the following detail as well as the article down below for you to be able to address your existing concern : )

Additionally, "encryption by default" using MACsec (an IEEE standard at the data-link layer) is enabled for all Azure traffic travelling between Azure datacenters to ensure confidentiality and integrity of customer data.

I hope you can find this useful for your case scenario.

    Looking forward to your feedback,

    Cheers,
