Is a custom domain required to register a B2B app with AAD?

Hello.

I have registered a SWA in AAD and have gone through the entire process for B2B authentication, however I am getting an internal server error. Is it required to create a custom domain when authentication is B2B?

I've used this documentation for register the application

And this documentation is for create a Security Group for external users and add the SWA to the group, because only this group have to use the application.

You shouldn't need a custom domain when authenticating with B2B via your SWA. However, to gain a better understanding of your issue can you share some more details:

Can you share the full error message that you're receiving?

Can you share any documentation that you followed when setting up your SWA in Azure AD?

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for following up on this and I apologize for the delayed response!

When it comes to Authentication with Azure AD, a custom domain isn't required with B2B. However, from your screenshot it looks like you received an HTTP 500 error, which doesn't seem related to the Authentication aspect of your Web App but more along the lines of a potential Internal Error.

Can you see if capturing a network trace shows any more detail regarding your HTTP 500 error? Since I'm not an expert with Static Web Apps, I've also reached out to our Web Apps team so they can take a look into this issue as well.

@Hazel Acuña were you able to capture a network trace? First thing I would check is to ensure you're getting a valid token after the login.micorosftonline.com request. If your token is valid, there may be an issue with your redirect configuration in your routes.json
