Select the folder when uploading a file to Teams

Please i need your help on this issue.

We are having an issue selecting folder locations when uploading files in Teams.

In One of our Teams channel when we click on upload a files to teams it show us an upload locations as shown below:

But for other teams channel when we upload files to teams it does not show us an upload locations when we click on upload instead it just get uploaded to the chat.

Is there a way we can make the teams channel select a location instead of uloading it directly into the chat when we click upload.

Could you tell me how did you upload the file in Teams channel?

I did a test in my environment, and we have two ways to upload the file at present.

1)Click this icon to upload the file and it will upload directly to the post

2)Go to Files and upload files to Team channel and it will not show in chat directly.

Then you could move this file to the location you want.

Yes I understand both ways of uploading the file you mention.

What I wanted to know is when I upload a file in chat, can I have the option on selecting what folder that file is placed in?

You can do this with a class team, but it does not seem to work with staff team.

Hi @IBN

Yes, you're right. At present, there is no direct ways to select what folder that file is placed in when uploading files in Staff Teams. As a workaround, you need to upload the file firstly in channel and then move the location manually.

no, there's no direct way (as far as I know) to select the desired folder.

In our company, we created a Flow (power Automate) for this kind of situation.
You simply upload the file into the desired folder, and Power Automate sends a message in the Channel with the link to the uploaded file.
