Changed initials for a user but in teams she has the old one?

Hi,

Question: from where does teams pull the short name that is displayed in teams (in the list). For example Michael Jordan would be JM or MJ depending what comes first in an organization?

I am asking this because we changed the INITIALS for the colleague because of some negative connotations and it did not change in teams. IF teams pulls the short name from name and surname than the situation is clear but if it pulls it from initials then it should have been changed already. Hope everybody understood what I meant.

Cheers.

    Hi @Tonito Dux

To better understand the scenario, would you please share some more information on the issue?

1.What are the initials before the change, and what are the expected initials after the change?
If possible please give an example.
(Don't forget to hide the personal information)

2.Does this user have a middle name?

3.Are you seeing the initials change in Microsoft 365 admin center?

If yes but in Teams it doesn't change, it may possibly be caused by Teams server cache.
Reference: User information isn't updated in Microsoft Teams

Please wait some time for the information to be updated.

    Hi KaelYao,

thank you for taking this case. The user first name as well as the last name starts with S. So in Teams we get an SS which we dont want. The user should bit then SSC. She does not have a middle name. There are no changes in O365 and we waited really couple of days - it should have been updated. As a workaround we created a .jpg with SSC yesterday and am waiting for it to sync and display today during the day. However I would like to know if the O365 takes first letters of the name and surname or does it look at the initials?

    Cheers!
