Hi,

I found BitLocker recovery keys by two ways;

  1. Accessing https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey. and
  2. Taking print.

I received print by following way.
Settings > Privacy & security > Device encryption > BitLocker drive encryption > Back up your recovery key > Print the recovery key.

The key received from the Microsoft looks as
244370-key1.png

The key received from the print looks as
244422-key2.png

Pls let me know, why key differ like this?

Moreover, whenever key are required, will both format be accepted?

With Regards

The identifier is generated when the drive is encrypted. This allows you to identify which recovery key goes to which encrypted drive.

    The two numbers are different.
Bitlocker recovery key ID is Bitlocker recovery key identifier, if it matches the Bitlocker recovery key ID displayed by your PC, you can use the right recovery key to unlock your Bitlocker drive.
Your BitLocker recovery key is a unique 48-digit numerical password that can be used to unlock your system if BitLocker is otherwise unable to confirm for certain that the attempt to access the system drive is authorized.

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having issues related to Bitlocker recovery key.

Please note that whenever the Recovery is required you need to enter only Recovery key ,

Hence identifier and Recovery both are different.

identifier is used if you have multiple Recovery keys saved then you can easily identify what will be recovery key matching with that identifier key.
