My cpu usage is as high as 35% to 60% even when it is idle but dramatically drops whenever I open task manager.

My cpu usage is at 30% to 50% when there’s barely any programs running. Whenever I open task manager my cpu immediately drops to 5% to 1%. How do I fix this and what are the causes behind it?

Process Explorer can show total CPU time taken by a process, as well as a history graph per process.

Go to the Performance Monitor. Right-click on the graph and select "Add Counters".

In the "Available counters" list, open the "Process" section by clicking on the down arrow next to it. Select "% Processor Time" (and any other counter you want).

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

I believe it's by in Windows design and due some Background processes or Tasks like Antivirus or any other services or processes it can happened

You can keep Open Task manager some time observe which process goes high .

If you see constantly CPU usage high above 80% to 90% , then it can be issue and which need to investigate.
