Hi there,

Since a few days we've seen this Service not starting anymore. It does not run into the timeout. According to the registry it is set to 30 sec. But when starting this service, it gives the popup that is cannot start within 1 second.

In the eventlog I cannot find anything. It just gives the default ID's 7000 and 7009. Nothing more.

This is a Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Standard 10.0.14393 with SQL 2012 installed. We have restarted the server this midnight but the problem starten some days before that.

I've been searching on internet and several forums, but no results so far.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Marcel

    Hi,

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

I understand that you're having issues running the SQL VSS writer service during startup.

    • May I know when the issue started to happen?
    • Have you made any changes on the PC that might cause the issue?

While waiting for your response, kindly try to perform a clean boot process. This will just start your computer as minimalistic as possible because typically, when you start your computer, it loads many files and apps to customize your environment. A clean boot eliminates these optional features and loads those files and apps required by the system.

To do so, kindly follow the steps from this
