Azure Serial Console (Linux) doesn't accept keyboard input

Hi,

my HD on my azure vm was full and my only way to access the vm was via the azure cloud serial console. While fixing the problem by deleting huge syslog files the console in the web-interface stopped responding to my keyboard input and only prints '^M' or '^C' additionally to some output I don't know where it's coming from (looks like logfile output).
How can I reset the serial console without rebooting the VM?

Thank you a lot for your help.
Best,
Nadine

    Nadine,

I would encourage you to open a ticket with Microsoft directly. If this VM cannot be rebooted -- it sounds like it is in production. Support may be able to rescue it for you. It sounds like either an important file was deleted - perhaps console-dependent log file or space has filled again. Some questions support might ask:

    1) Can this VM be accessed any other way -- SSH, SCP, SFTP
    2) Is it responding to ping, or other services? if not, it may need rebooted anyway.
    3) Is there a maintenance window when it can be rebooted?

A support ticket can be generated by clicking the little help question mark in the top right corner of the Azure Portal here: portal.azure.com

Please do report back what steps support used to resolve your issue so that others may learn from your experience.

If this was helpful, please mark it as an accepted answer so that others are able to follow the same troubleshooting steps.
