Hi,

unfortunately we are running into issues with app installations failing on some of our devices.

Most of the error messages are:
"Error code: 0x87D13B9F
An app update is available. Available apps can be updated using Company Portal and required apps will auto-update on device sync."

The auto update option is selected in the VPP token but it doesn't seem to be working.

Another error message is:

Error code: 0x87D11388
iOS device is currently busy
Suggested remediation
The device is busy or locked. Ask the user to open Company Portal and sync their device. You can also initiate a sync from Intune.

Does this mean the device cover needs to be open for the Apps to be pushed?
As the devices are being used in classrooms I don't know when they are in use with the cover open and when they are locked away in the cupboard with the cover shut (i.e. dvice "locked")
So I don't know when I can trigger a sync from InTune.
As the devices are shared and we don't use user accounts on them the company portal app isn't installed, is it at all possible to trigger a sync from the device without signing in to the company portal app?

Thanks and regards
Daniel

Hi @Daniel McDonnell Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

Make sure the VPP app assignment as "Required". The Available deployment intent is not supported for device groups, only user groups are supported.
When updating a VPP app, it can take up to 24 hours for the device to receive the updated VPP app. The device must be unlocked and available to install the update successfully. More details about manage VPP apps, please refer to: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/apps/vpp-apps-ios#assign-a-volume-purchased-app
