My data disk is not showing in my VM

Hi,

I have created a premium ssd and it doesnt show in vm.
How do I fix this?

@James Davidson Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A. Are you saying that the new disk you created doe snot show up when you try to add this disk to the VM? If not, please correct me.

Can you confirm that the new disk you created and the VM are in the same location/Resource Group etc., and that the disk is currently unattached to any other resources?

If possible, provide me the details for both the disk and the VM such as location/Resource Group etc., so I can verify if everything matches. Thank you!

yes, it is only attached to my vm.
I only have one vm

Hi James, assuming that you have created the data disk and that it is attached to the VM already then you will still need to initialise and format the disk within the operating system before you can use it.

I saw a "disk 0 partition 3" thing in the disk management and i saw it wsas part of the os disk

also host caching resets to read only when i put it to read/write

@Alan Kinane I faced the same issue but i used powershell mathod to update the vm. Could you please look into this and reply me asap.
