    Same issue here.

    Found out, that it is related (at least on my notebook) to the used fonts.
    I have replaced this ugly Segoe with something different. This was the reason here. Restoring to Windows default font, the search bar was working fine.

    So, for fixing this issue, I did:

    • start Win11 in safe mode
    • renamed folder 'FontCache' in C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\ to 'oldFontCache' (to be safe and have a copy)
    • copied folder 'FontCache' from windows.old\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\ to here (to have the original set permissions of this folders)
    • deleted the content of 'FontCache' and 'FontCache\Fonts'
    • reboot

    --> search bar works fine ! Even after changing the default font back to 'Tahoma' - search bar works, no more crash.

    Select Start, then select Settings.
    In Windows Settings, select Update & Security > Troubleshoot. Under Find and fix other problems, select Search and Indexing.
    Run the troubleshooter.

    =========================

    You can also use a command prompt to open the troubleshooter. Press Windows logo key+R, enter cmd in the Open box, and then select OK. At the command prompt, run the following command:

    msdt.exe -ep WindowsHelp id SearchDiagnostic

    ===========================

    Download Reset Windows Search PowerShell script

    and save the file to a local folder.

    Right-click the file that you saved, and select Run with PowerShell.

    The PowerShell script resets the Windows Search feature.

    Hello there,

    There are some users that have stated the same issue after the update, you can have a quick check at this article and see if the troubleshooting steps help you https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/after-22h2-implace-upgrade-window-store-windows/3d35ec24-08b6-4d26-9320-5cbf31bd51a8

    Also, try booting your PC in clean boot. Refer to the article on How to perform a clean boot in Windows https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

    Note: Clean Boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. Also, you may not be able to use some programs in clean boot.

    If performing a clean boot fixes the issue then, please refer to the section How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot to check which program is causing the issue.

    I have had to disable the Windows Search service on 2 different machines with W11 22H2 because of this. Everything seems to then work ok after, less indexed searching of course. I'll try re-enabling it with each cumulative update to see if they've managed to fix it.
