Outlook 365 latest version does not close when clicking X

Every system I have visited with the latest Outlook 365 release V15427.20284 won't close when clicking the X in the upper right corner. It stays running. If we select File/Exit, it closes. Is there a GPO option that makes the X function as close rather than minimize?

Interesting, I'll look for this.

I know it's very annoying that Acrobat, Access, Zoom, TeamViewer, Teams, Skype, Sharepoint, One note, Microsoft VBA for Outlook and the social connector show up every time these apps update themselves. It looks like the .DLL's are in the user space. It would be nice if we could deny these add-ins globally. Denying admin permissions is not working. Is this possible realistically? I've looked into it and from what I can tell, we have to manually choose what to block using long strings we're constantly re-discovering.

Ohh and let me add that users without admin permissions can also add their own web add-ins from a large list titled:

Do you mean that after you click X, Outlook will not close and keeps unresponsive, right?

If so, have you ever tried to start Outlook in safe mode mentioned by DillonJS?

Outlook functions just fine, it just doesn't close with the X. It simply relegates itself to the system tray and stays there. If I select File/Exit, it closes.

There are many reasons that affect this issue, we can first troubleshoot from the factors that may affect the Outlook client, such as some third-party add-ins. So, it's suggested that you could try to start Outlook in safe mode to check if the issue has any differences(Windows + R> type "outlook.exe /safe">enter).

Yes, the problem still occurs when running Outlook /safe . Clicking X does not close Outlook, only selecting the file menu File/Exit will close Outlook. This all started a few months ago after an Outlook update. I'm running v 15427.20284 right now

Teams does this same thing but at least there, I can select options to close rather than minimize to the system tray. Outlook appears to have no such option.

Excluding the add-in, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Considering that it may be caused by the damage of the profile in the outlook client, it is suggested that you could try to create a new profile (Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>add) and add the account for testing to check if there are some differences.

If the issue still exists, it is recommended that you could try to fix the Office application. If it doesn't work, please uninstall and reinstall Office to check whether the problem still exists.

If the above doesn't help, i'm afraid the problem may not be related to the Outlook client. Considering the impact of some third-party programs on your computer, please try to perform a clean boot for windows and check if the issue still occur.
