Blue screen when zooming on touch screen

Hello there,

we have a serious issue with BSOD when zooming images in our software by means of a touch screen device.

It is pretty much independend from the hardware and OS we assume a bug in the win32kbase.sys --> CTouchProcessor::UpdateThreadPointerList :

Could you please tell us your application is what project developed with what APIs? Could you please provide the minimal sample without private information to help us reproduce the issue?Have you tried replacing your touch screen device? Does this issue only happen on this touch screen device or is it a common issue?

The interface we use is the MSWWindowProc, which is overridden by wxWidgets API. I will try to code a minimal sample, but that might take some time, since there are many dependancies.
The BSOD is not corresponding to a particular touch screen device (two different device manufcturer were used for testing) so it seems to be a common issue.

According to you description, It seems to be related to wxWidgets library. It is a third-party library. I suggest you could post the issue to wxWidgets Discussion Forum for better help.

Our application is an image viewer with zoom gesture support.
The API, which is used in our application, is the native Windows Touch gesture API, i.e. gestures are handled using the WM_GESTURE message.

The wxWidgets library is only the surrounding framework.

To get a deeper understanding on what is going on here I have the following questions:

Can this BSOD be caused by any memory overflow error in our native application? What we would expect in this case, is a crash of our application but not a BSOD. Is the memory address space from the operating system service win32kbase.sys separated from our applications address space or is there a way for us to write accidentally into this address space?

Is there a known way to use this gesture API wrongly, which would cause a system BSOD, e.g. calling something in wrong order to cause corrupted memory access in win32kbase.sys? The API itself is quite simple, so we are wondering about what we could have misdone...
