We recently updated File Servers to Windows Server 2022 . When indexing share volumes we cannot search within pdf content. Adobe IFilter 11 is installed. Browsing Folder and File names seems to be working correctly.

I was able to get the indexing completely functional after resetting indexing with the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\SetupComplete registry key. Set value to 0, restarted and rebuilt the index without issue.

I have similar issue. Did not notice the issue until now. We upgraded a client to Server 2022 in April 2022. They just informed us they now cannot search content within a PDF file, before they had. I checked the Server 2022 and we are able to search content within a PDF file on or before April 2022, we are unable to find content after April 2022. I did test both on the Server and Local system. They both reacted the same. BEFORE April 2022 file content okay, AFTER April 2022 file content no items found.
I did follow you instruction below on the Local PC without any positive results.
Hopefully there is a simple solution, I must be missing something.
Appreciate any assistance that can be provide.
I actually had this issue repro after it got fixed. Just stopped working again. I ended up searching the internet for the PDF iFilter for x64 machines and installing that. It forces a reindex during installation.

I am having the exact same issue. Ifilter 11 and Office suite installed, every document file type (pdf, doc, docx, xlsx, Etc.) set to index file contents. Can see the index attribute on files and the drive, still unable to search file contents after multiple rebuilds of the index.
I imagine there are many others. 22 people are currently following this thread. Microsoft is oddly silent on this issue. I cannot seem to find help anywhere.

Still not working on the new 2022 server!!! Terrible work MS!!! Why does MS have to keep screwing up functionality that worked fine before ????

With varying degrees of success when ended up tearing the services down completely. Uninstall the Search Services. Delete all the indexing data. Reinstall from the beginning and reindex the volumes. This worked for me 80 % of the time.
