visual studio 2019 source control - git error - Offset and length were out of bounds for the array or count is greater than the number of elements from index to the end of the source collection

When i am trying to create new branch from master branch. I am getting the issue - "Offset and length were out of bounds for the array or count is greater than the number of elements from index to the end of the source collection".
This is happening for master branch only.
But, when i create branch from any other branch. I am able to create branch. I am getting error only in case of creating branch from master branch. Please guide me on this issue.
I am using Visual Studio 2019 version - 16.11.7

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. Perhaps it’s caused by local git commit cache. Please try to backup the local git repo and then remove it and clone the git repo again. Or try to clean the local git cache and test again. Besides, you can try to directly use
git checkoutcommand to see if it works.
