Microsoft Authenticator Loop

I have a problem where I cannot log into anything because it keeps asking me for the approval in the Microsoft authenticator app, but I never receive any notifications on my app nor can I click on my account to see a code. It won't let me do it. I also cannot turn off the authenticator thing because when on my account page on my laptop I want to go into security settings it, you guessed it, asks me for a code from the app which I can't access.

Can anybody help me out with this. I am so frustrated because nothing seems to be working and I need that account for my university

Sounds like something went wrong with the restore. Another possibility is to try to sign in to your account but select the Sign in another way link (assumes another way was set up) on the Two-factor verification page.

otherwise, you may need to get the school admins to reset the account so you can setup the autherneticator again.

What's the history here? Was the authenticator reinstalled on your device?
