Hi, I have a lot of VMs (100+) with Reserved Instances(RI) in the West Us location. I want to move all my VMs to another location (East Us). My questions are:

  1. Should I wait for my RI will be finished, move VMs, and buy a new RI for a new region.
  2. If I shouldn't, how will RI be recalculated? I mean, in another region there is another price for compute, disks and so on
  3. If RI will be recalculated, is there any formula or information about the new price?

    You have to options.

    Option 1:
Wait until your existing RI is finished -> Maybe depends when this will be.

    Option 2:
It's possible to exchange existing RIs to new RIs without a fee. Limitation: The new RI must have at least the same value than the prorated existing RI.

    Maybe this is helpful.
