Whenever I try to create a Data Factory instance from Azure Portal the validation keeps saying that the name is already taken, even if I use a random string generator to create a name.
It's impossible for me to create a Data Factory. I saw one thread on this but no answers.
Both me and my wife on separate accounts are experiencing this.
Has anyone else come across this and found a solution?

Please try creating it again and provide screenshot of the names that you are trying with the error if it persists.

I'm having the same issue. It doesn't matter what number I put after the name or any changes to the name. It's been like this since Monday. I really need to find a solution

try creating via powershell , it has worked for such cases wherein it is not possible to create from UI
It didn't work but I got a more helpful hint. It now says that data factory creation is disabled for Tenant xx Subscription xxx. I was messing around with tutorials. Maybe I disabled something by accident. It's my VSS subscription so no one else would have disabled anything. Would you happen to know how to proceed?

I managed to find a work-around by using the Azure Powershell as described in the link above, then was able to continue on with the Azure Portal doing the links. However, I didn't know how to put the ADF in an existing resource group, had to create a new one.
That worked! Thank you. It's weird how it just stopped working in the portal, though.

We are aware of the issue with creating data factory from the UI. Mitigation is underway.
