Hi,

Currently, I am googling allot to try finding an answer how I can upgrade the current AD connect with Powershell.

However, I cannot find clear answers if there is a way to achieve this with Powershell. Currently I run version AD Connect 1.6.16.0 on Windows Server 2019 Core. Who can help me to make an upgrade possible with only powershell?

    Hi @Noah Venema ,

In the requirements page for ADConnect V2, is specified that for the installation of Azure AD Connect server, Windows must have a full GUI installed. Installing Azure AD Connect on Windows Server Core isn't supported. I don't know if this applies to upgrading from a previous version.

    I Hope this helps.

    Hello there,

I am not sure whether you can achieve this with Powershell but have you checked the Automatic upgrade option?

There are a few different strategies that you can use to upgrade Azure AD Connect.

    Swing migration
    In-place upgrade
    Automatic upgrade

Not all releases of Azure AD Connect are made available for auto upgrade. The release status indicates if a release is available for auto upgrade or for download only.
