Registration - Profile name with umlaut

hi,

Just want to check if registering name with umlaut (german names) is allowed in the system? Because we have a concern with names registered without umlaut will cause mismatch to identification card to be used. For there's a rule that "Name registered should match the name in the ID to be used". Please advise.
