Is it possible to assign a static IP outside of the Azure portal without losing VM connectivity? I am referring through ipv4. I am doing some configurations on my Windows Server VM and it requires it. See the below errors:

You can set static ip on network interface settings on Azure portal. Do not change them inside VM.

@rafalzak that was done but Windows Server still doesn't pick it up as static as the settings are shown as below:
I would avoid change it on machine it's just a validation warning. If you set it to static on VM network interface then I would continue installation. If you really need see static ip inside VM- you can try to set it up to manual but you need to use exact the same ip config you used in azure portal otherwise you lose access. If it's just newly created vm you can try hovewer you may lost access and you may have problems to recover it back.
