Hi there support,

After pinning to the taskbar a couple of programs, then some of them are not being shown their icons; I've tried to unpin and pin again, but the icon still does not show up.

    Try this:

Press Win + R to bring up a Run dialog.
    Type appdata, then click OK.
Select the View tab and check the Hidden items options to make sure all files are visible.
    Locate and delete IconCache.db.
Restart your computer and check if the taskbar is now displaying the icons

    Hi @S.Sengupta ,
thanks for your prompt response; I've followed your orientation and it worked, however, after restarting my PC a couple of times, then the icons have gone again.

Even deleting all IconCache.db again, it has not worked, I mean, the icons still not be showing.

Do you have any other tips to share?
Can you explain why this behaviour is happing?

    Regards

    Hello,

It is possible that Explorer is still running by the moment you delete the iconcache files?

I would recommend the next sequence to ensure that there is no active lock on the icon files, from an elevated command prompt run the next commands:

    taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F
    DEL /A /Q "%localappdata%\IconCache.db"
    DEL /A /F /Q "%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\iconcache*"
    shutdown /r /f /t 00

If the issue still appears, please ensure that you are not using any Taskbar or StartMenu customization tool such as WinAero or OpenShell, and uninstall/disable if present.

Last but not least, you can attempt a system repair following the steps on this official article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/repair-a-windows-image?view=windows-11
