Outlook Web: Session abruptly kicks user back to login screen every 90min

Hello!

I have one user who uses Outlook for web and about every 90min or so it completely kicks her out send her back to a login screen. This causes any drafts to be lost.
After logging in again she is prompted to authenticate through MFA each time. Currently this is only being reported from her home, we will test if this same issue is replicated in the office.

Under Sign-in logs it shows successful login and then an interrupted login. There are no conditional access policies being applied.
I ran a sign-in diagnostic on the interrupted sign-in and it is showing an error code of "50140" (Full error message below) which doesn't make sense to why shes being kicked out every ~90min.

Error message 50140:
Message: This occurred due to 'Keep me signed in' interrupt when the user was signing in.
Action: This is an expected part of the login flow, where a user is asked if they want to remain signed into this browser to make further logins easier.

Steps taken already

  • Cleared all MFA sessions and re setup MFA with the user
  • Cleared all browser settings

Please let me know if anyone else has ran into this issue before! Its very strange as it looks like there's nothing directly wrong with the account but any insight or suggestions would help immensely

Sincerely,
Wyatt Chilton

    Hi @Wyatt Chilton ,

According to my search for errors, you can turn this off by setting "Show option to remain signed in" in Company Branding to "No".
Here's the help article for that: Troubleshoot 'Stay signed in?' issues
