We are moving over to teams and like the idea of sharing docs, but how do we share docs and limit editing?

Hi @UtauyoNASE

Files shared in Teams are stored in Onedrive (chat files) or Sharepoint sites (channel files), so the permissions can be modified in Onedrive or Sharepoint.

Take channel file for example:

  1. I uploaded a file to the General channel of a Team
    254494-21.png
  2. click ... and select Manage access
    254495-22.png
  3. you can check and modify the permissions on this file (this can also be done in Sharepoint)
    254552-23.png
By default Team members can edit this file.
If you would like to restrict them from editing the file, you can change the permission from Can Edit to Can View (read only).

    Hi @UtauyoNASE

With Teams there are 2 share options, If you sharing a doc user to user, It uses the users Onedrive, If you share the file with in a Team, that file is then uploaded to SharePoint.

So you can control the share settings with in each of those apps.

    Regards,
    T
