i am worndering why "id@servername" format is needed when i login with azure db through ip(private endpoint).

when i connect with it through public endpoint, i just use id/pw.

As I understand correctly you want to know "id@servername" format is needed when I log in with azure DB through IP private endpoint

id@servername is not strictly needed; it can be used when DNS resolution isn't happening, What driver are you using?

It is a method that has been there since the early days but we do not want customers to use it since it is not secure. We have removed all references to it in our docs yet some old blogs still have it
