slow Azure VM internet speed
I currently have an Azure VM (Windows Server 2019) with Accelerated Networking turned on. I am only able to get 0.44Mbps Upload and 74.1Mbsp Download.
I have migrated about 800GB of data from my onprem to the new instance. Does Azure throttle VM network traffic? Any way to increase speed?

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well.
Accelerated networking is a feature designed to improve network performance, including latency, throughput, and CPU utilization. While accelerated networking can improve a virtual machine’s throughput, it can do so only up to the virtual machine’s allocated bandwidth.
In addition to bandwidth, the number of network connections present on a VM at any given time can affect its network performance.
Refer : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-network/virtual-machine-network-throughputI would request you to test the VM's bacnwidth/throughput by following the below doc:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-network/virtual-network-bandwidth-testingAlso, could you please share the below details?
- What is the VM size that you are using?
- How is your on-premises connected to Azure?
- How exactly you are migrating the data from your on-premises to the VM instance?
Regards,

2022-10-28T15:24:09.393+00:00 Thank you for your reply.
I have read both articles before creating this post. The first one is about high volume throughput and how Azure will manage the throughput. This is a new instance of VM with nothing other than RDP connected. The second article is how to test throughput between two VMs. I do not have any issues between the VMs in Resource Group.
1) VM Size: Standard D4s v3 (4 vcpus, 16 GiB memory)
2) OnPrem is not connected to Azure
3) Data migration was through MS Azure Storage ExplorerThe issue I am having is the Speed Tests ran are (today) only 0.46Mbps down and 52.4Mbps Up.
Thank you for any guidance on how to increase speeds.

2022-10-31T18:26:13.193+00:00 Hi @GitaraniSharma-MSFT
Do you by chance have any further information? I am still receiving very slow speeds. My target deployment deadline is today. At this junction, if I do not have any answers, I will be forced to explore AWS GovCloud.
Thank you in advance for your time in this matter. -

2023-01-24T12:14:25.2666667+00:00 I started to experience this problem Friday afternoon. I quickly open a support ticket since this is currently impacting my business heavily. I have 12 different engineers assign to my case and all of them are saying it's out of their scope. It's another team or department. my concern is getting bounced from one engineer to another. My business operation is completely down. No engineer was assigned today.
Here is my ticket# TrackingID#2301200040007272
