Versioning and hierarchical namespace

When provisioning Azure storage, when I enable Hierarchical Namespace, it disables Versioning for Blobs.

Ideally we'd have both.. Will that ever be enabled or is there some fundamental reason they can't both be on at the same time?

    @Gert-Jan van der Kamp Versioning is not supported for Hierarchical Namespace at this time. We are working on the feature currently. Hope this helps.

    Unfortunately, Azure Data Lake Gen2 (HNS Storage Account) doesn’t support enable and manage blob versioning.

    Hi Sumanth,

    Thanks for the quick reply, I was more curios to the why we can't have both? That would really solve all our issues. We can create our own versioning layer (or implement folders on normal (non-hierarchical) blobs, but if MS is going to do that at some point we might as well wait for that. Do you know if there are any plans on the roadmap?

    Hi is there any (ballpark) release date for that? That would be an awesome feature that would let us ditch our own stuff and use ADLS2 instead.
