Can my hard desk data by transferred/Read without password

Question

I have Dell Vostro 3500 laptop with windows 10 home edition. and the laptop stop turning on, so i want to take it to a maintenance store. but since i have many personal data on the laptop >> so can the maintenance guy take a copy of the hard desk data, even if i do not share the windows 10 login password?

Hi @john john ,

if the partition(s) are encrypted with BitLocker and an authentication method like Pin or Startup Key there is no way to get the data.
If the partition(s) aren't encrypted a copy is possible.

Hi @john john ,

you are running Windows 10 Home Edition? If so, Bitlocker isn't available. But you can check this in the by opening the Control Panel -> Bitlocker Drive Encryption.

If Bitlocker Drive Encryption is available you will see the status of Bitlocker -> On or Off.
