Hello Team,

I hope you are doing well,

I have a question regarding DC backup, we have implemented a veeam backup solution, and we have been asked to backup 2 DCs (Primary and secondary) but after googling a lot of people say that creating a backup for DCs is kind of a bad idea, because after the restoration a lot of problems appear.

So i'm wondering if there is a way to use azur as solution (maybe a service in azure or something like that, the idea is when both on prem DCs are down the cloud takes the lead)

(PS: all the VMs are on prem and the client refuse to migrate the servers to the cloud)

i really appreciate your help

Thank you

    Hi

sorry, for AD DS there is no managed service, you need a Virtual Machine to host this.

For clarity - Azure AD DS will not work here. This is a Microsoft-managed stand-alone domain which can sync from your Azure AD. It isn't an extension of your on-premises domain.

    Thanks

    Hi

once the connectivity is in place, you can absolutely create a VM in Azure and promote this to be an additional Domain Controller in your domain.

    Full documentation here:
