Stream on sharepoint embed in OneNote

Hi,

We previously used Stream (classic) to create and embed teaching videos into OneNote pages and then set them as assignments. This worked brilliantly as the videos could be played from within OneNote.

However, the Stream on SharePoint videos do not seem to embed into OneNote pages.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Surely the stream on SharePoint videos should embed and play within OneNote. Is anybody else having this problem?

    Hi @Nick Gray ,

I checked the detailed feature comparison between Classic and On SharePoint versions. While no detailed feature comparison is mentioned on this, On SharePoint is more focused on sharing with other users.

You can check this article: Detailed feature comparison to Stream (Classic)
The difference between the two can be seen by the link structure of the shared link between the On SharePoint version and the Classic version. The shared link of the On SharePoint version can also be placed in OneNote, the impact is that it will not be embedded in the form of online playback like the Classic version, and it needs to be jumped.

At the same time, I also checked the current development status of the Stream function, and there is no gain.
You can view the development roadmap at any time: https://www.microsoft.com/en-sg/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=Microsoft%20Stream%2CRolling%20out

Based on this situation, it is recommended that you switch to Classic to use this function first. I will continue to pay attention to this issue and I will let you know if there are any updates. Thank you for your unsderstanding!

It is quite funny to me how this article by Microsoft: [https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/stream/embed-video-onenote that explains how you can embed Stream Videos into OneNote has a msg at the top saying:

It is recommended to start using Stream (on SharePoint) by uploading videos to SharePoint, Teams, Yammer, or OneDrive.

Despite the fact that what is described in said article literally is not possible in the new version.

Is is now May. This still doesn't work. I teach with flipped classroom and I'm now no longer able to upload videos to Stream Classic. So far I was able to just use the classic version of stream but that is now no longer possible. This is extremely frustrating.

Yet again, a bit of a build first, think later problem by Microsoft. Back to uploading videos to YouTube I guess...
