How do I create a dynamic server group that contains Active Directory Computers OR DNS Servers 2016 and 1709+?

The AND/OR formula in SCOM 2019 is confusing me when I try to do a dynamic server group of Active Directory Domain Controller Computer Role OR DNS 2016 and 1709+ Servers OR File Service Role (Windows Server 2016 and above). I want to add computers that have any of these roles, all into my dynamic server group Im creating, but when I try it different ways, SCOM is spitting out formulas that don't make sense to me so I know I am most likely doing it wrong.

Can someone please explain to me how I can do a dynamic group that will grab machines that have the computer roles I mentioned above?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi @JCC ,

Yes, I did the same a couple of days ago. Here are the steps:

    • You fiorts build your dynamic group as you need it, with the Windwos Computer Objects you want there
    • After you have done this, you need to export the management pack that contians the group you have just build.
    • After exporting the MP you can add the Health Service Watcher objects to the same group, by follwoing this:

Dynamic Computer groups that send heartbeat alerts

It is pretty well expalined what you need to edit in the MP, so you should not have any challenges following the guide.

Take a look at the following blog for a lot of great ways to sculpt SCOM groups.
