User cannot change password - A device attached to the system is not functioning

Since 2 weeks we are having issues whereby users cannot change their password upon expiry.

Error is: A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Error valid for Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Our domain is on server 2022.

    I really doubt it is connected with password change itself.

    • What kind of changes was done before this start to happen ?
    • How many PCs this affects ?
    • Is your Active Directory Env healthy ? (replication/DNS/DFRS etc)
    • Is there anything specific in the workstation logs ?

    Hello,

    SOme group policies were implemented but now i have deleted all new added ones. issue still the same.

    across my whole organization.

    No logs on this issues found -on workstation.
