Force closing files on a distributed file system share

We have a DFS share that is replicated across three servers. We have a user group that needs to update certain configuration files on this DFS share and they need to be able to force close those files. On a standard server share, you can do this with Computer Management. Is it possible to do something similar with DFS?

    Hello LiveseyScottParsippany-1691,

Thank you for posting in our Q&A forum.

Did you mean you want to remotely close the specific DFS shared files open by all the users on their clients?

If so, you may need to connect to their machine to close the specific DFS shared files via Computer Management (The premise is that you need to know who opened the file).

If it does not work above, you can try sending an email to someone who might use this particular file to close it.

Hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,
    Daisy Zhou

    Hi,

The users will need to have elevated privileges in order to be able to do this. If you're using Active Directory to manage your users and groups, give them sufficient access rights to be able to force close the necessary files.

I hope this answers your question.
