How to import 3 Chrome Profiles into 3 Edge Profiles?

I've currently got 3 Chrome profiles (Private, Work, and General). One I use only for "important" websites like banking and other sites where I have an account. The Work one I use for all work-related sites, and a general one that I use for youtube and googling and looking at random stuff. The advantage of this is that the passwords and cookies and bookmarks are all unique per-profile. I have 3 separate desktop shortcuts to these different profiles by including the profile id in the parameters to the Chrome program.

I want to achieve the same thing with Edge. So I need to know the following:

  • How do I have 3 shortcuts to Edge, each having the profile I want to use in the params to the program? As it's based on Chromium is it the same syntax?
  • How can I import the bookmarks, cookies, passwords etc from a Chrome Profile to make this easier? Whilst in one of the Profiles (via the Switch option) I can go into edge://settings and I can import but in the drop-down list it doesn't offer me the 3 separate chrome profiles, it only offers "Chrome". So I have no idea which of the profiles it's going to import from. I haven't tried doing it because of the unpredictability of that.

    Hi @DeeDee

For your questions, the answers are below:

    1. Yes, it's the same syntax as Chrome. You can create the Edge shortcut with flag --profile-directory="Profile name". I think that's the same as what you do with Chrome. You can find the Edge profile name in edge://version/. 258984-image.png

    2. If your Chrome has several profiles, I think Edge will let you choose which one to import like below. You can go to edge://settings/profiles/importBrowsingData -> click Choose what to import under Import from other browsers -> in the popup window, choose Import from Google Chrome, choose the Chrome Profile you want. 259012-image.png
