Authenticator Hell Loop

I have a Microsoft account with my email address, and also a Microsoft "work" account with the same email address. I also have an .mydomain.onmicrosoft.com work account.

I can get into my Microsoft/personal account, and my onmicrosoft.com work account I have added to Authenticator. However, I am unable to add my "work" account with the email address to authenticator. When I try to add the account to authenticator, it asks me to authenticate wtih authenticator, or gives me the option of sending a code to authenticator.

How do I gain access to logging in to this account???? VERY frustrating! I would GREATLY appreciate help resolving this!
