How to get a backup of the Azure subscription

Seedantha Weerasinghe 21 Reputation points

I am unable to get a backup of the subscription. There is a SQL database and other app services running in the subscription, my requirement is to get a backup of all these resources. I have tried to create a backup vault in the backup center and backup the resources but nothing showing to select SQL database or VM to backup. Looking for a solution for this.

    I am assuming you created the vault in the same subscription? If yes please follow the guidnace and steps for backing up the servers and SQL DB, SQL

    VM and SQL

    Hope this helps.

    @Seedantha Weerasinghe ,

    Azure backup service supports the following resources for the backup.

    1. Azure VM backup(For VMs running an azure supported OS)
    2. Azure SQL DBs inside azure VM
    3. SAP DBs inside azure VM
    4. MARS agent based backups on windows on-premises VM
    5. Azure File Share backup.
    6. Azure Disk backup

    Azure backup service doesn't support the backup SQL database(Paas) and app services.

    If you need to backup a VM, ensure the VM is running an azure support OS and recovery services vault is created in the same region as the VM. Then follow how to enable VM backup

    Hope this helps!
