Hi..

When we creating a new VM, what protection from azure to protect the VM from virus? Should we install antivirus on the VM?

    When you are using Cloud services, it is essential to understand the Shared Responsibility model. For Microsoft Azure, the following URL includes the Shared Responsibility Model.

    As you can see in the diagram, for Iaas, the Operating system responsibility is fully on the customer. Azure VM is of type IaaS offering and thus you need to ensure you are taking care of anti-virus software.
