Azure Tenant deletion

Hello,

I need to remove my tenant because of a small mistake I created the tenant in the wrong region.

  1. Disabled Azure Connect
  2. Removed User
  3. Removed Devices
  4. Started Subscriptions deletion

After a time I was still getting the error:

  • active licenses
  • active subscriptions

For both topics I created a ticket in the correct team.
Subscription team was after a time able to remove this subscriptions.
Now this error of active subscription is cleared and check passed.
Additional the team told me they can’t see any additional licenses in my tenant.

Team o365 confirmed that there is no active license in the tenant.

They recommended me to contact azure ad technical support.

How can the tenant be deleted, that I can recreate them in the correct region?

    You can use this link: https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/subscriptions to check if you have any expired licenses which are no longer active but still exist in you account. Access this page using your Global Administrator account, cancel and delete all the product subscriptions from this page. After all the product subscriptions are deleted, it may take maximum up to 72 hours. I personally have seen a delay of 12 hours for this change to reflect in Azure AD, after which I was able to delete the tenant.
