Windows10 Pro 21H1

I am trying run SFC /Scannow and it returns Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

I suspect some corruption. DSIM cleanup-image and restore health did complete

This is on a system that has just been refreshed with new MB and Intel core 10 i5.

How do I get SFC to launch?

    Hi @John Lenz

Please try the following from https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/sfc-scannow-windows-resource-protection-could-not/3dabeaa4-269d-4c65-ab42-a3cf5ef1092d (answered by Michael Gall)

    1. Select Start, and type CMD.
    2. Right-click Command Prompt; then, choose Run as administrator.
    3. If prompted, enter a username and password that grants admin rights to the computer.
    4. Type sc config trustedinstaller start= auto; then, press Enter. You should get a SUCCESS message.
    5. Next, type net start trustedinstaller; then, press Enter. You should receive a message that the service was started.
    6. Try the sfc /scannow command again.

Please open administrative command prompt and copy and paste::

    msdt.exe -id WindowsUpdateDiagnostic

After the troubleshooter completes > click > view detailed information > post images or share links into this thread

Reboot the computer then run this bat script:

(bat scripts by default will prompt antivirus software and require manual overrides)

    https://www.tenforums.com/attachments/bsod-crashes-debugging/360137d1645183388-batch-files-use-bsod-debugging-tuneup_plus_log.bat

Post a share link into this thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

If the above methods are unable to fix the integrity violations then perform an in place upgrade repair.

    Hi John,

    Please try below-mentioned troubleshooting steps.

Clear/remove all temporary files from the temp folder.
    Perform disk cleanup.
Remove/uninstall unnecessary apps from programs and features.
Scan the PC using Windows Defender.
Check if the machine is connected to a domain network or not. If yes, try to disable or remove domain applications/VPN.
Perform a clean boot and try performing sfc scan.
Try restoring the PC using the previous restore point. (If applicable)
Repair the machine using system recovery. (If applicable, provided you should know how to do that)

To run a SFC scan using cmd 'administrator'.

Type ‘cmd’ in the search box and perform a right click on it and then left click on ‘run as administrator’.
then type “net user administrator /active:yes” then hit ‘enter’.
    Restart your machine
Login using ‘Administrator’ account in Windows 10. It takes no password, would let you in, without a password.
Type ‘cmd’ in the search box and perform a right click on it and then left click on ‘run as administrator’.
This time type 'sfc /scannow and hit enter.

If this works out, kindly update on this thread.

    Regards,
    CK
