I have multiple home videos that were saved in the format .wmv_LAST, and Windows Media Player won't play them. Any idea how I might play them?

    Hi,

    How can I play a .wmv_LAST file

File name (extension of the name) does not neccererily related to the file format/content. Many applications creates files with unique name but can work with any other name. For example, it is very common to use extension .mdf for SQL Server data file and .ldf for the transaction log file, but we can use any other name if we want.

I did not find any common name extension ".wmv_LAST" which is used for any common application. You should check with the person or app that created these file what is the tools that can read it. It might be a specific format for specific application.

The following link is a site which map files extension to common application but it does not even recognize this extension.

    Maybe your meant ".WMV"?!?

This is a common file extension for video files and usually double-click the file will open the related application (almost of not all common video application can run these files usually)

It won't be played because the file extension has ".wmv_LAST". There is no such extension and naturally WMP can't recognize it. It should be ".wmv" file extension.
Remove _Last and try to play the file.

Open the file with .wmv_LAST extension in an Hexa editor to check its format, then you can rename it with the right extension, if the format is WMV or other
