How do I use office on tablet

Question

I have microsoft office on my laptop (excel, word, powerpoint) and I want to use office on my tablet. But it tells me I can only use it if I have microsoft 365 but to the best of my knowledge I do have this, since I can use all the services on my laptop. Why can I only view things in office on my laptop, and not actually alter the documents? Can I change this?
