Hi,
is there a way to fill the "Line Changed" indicator box as it used to be in the old visual studio? I guess this was done so that VS is more accessible for colourblind people, but I would prefer to have a filled-in block just like when the code is saved (see the 1st picture).
Please let me know if there is a way to change this.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
Do you mean these two items: "Track Changes before save" and "Track Changed after save"? If so, please go to Tools > Options > Environment > Fonts and Colors > Display items > find these two items and change the related Item background.

Thank you for your answer. However, this setting only seems to change the outline colour; I would like it to change the fill colour of the box (because I don't like that it is yellow outline with transparent filling)

You are right, actually it is designed as a rectangle box instead of a rectangle area. So the box’s(it’s) color can be customized but not the middle plain text area. The color in the middle is the same with the plain text area.
So, I’m afraid there’s no direct way to fill color of that box. I may suggest you submit a feature request on our Developer Community, if you really want to fill color of that box. I will also report your feedback, BTW.
