Hi All,

Looking for some clarification around true EOL for windows 10 versions. As you may or may not know 1709 is due in a few weeks for EOL.

It seems as if perhaps extended support is still providing security updates (https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4577015/windows-10-update-kb4577015)

notes:
Windows 10, version 1607 has reached the end of mainstream support and is now in extended support. Starting in July 2020, there will no longer be optional, non-security releases (known as "C" releases) for this operating system. Operating systems in extended support have only cumulative monthly security updates (known as the "B" or Update Tuesday release).

Does anyone have any links to extended support explained in detail for windows 10? I need to know how long after expiry i have until any new critical security updates are actually no longer.

thanks,
Sean

    @Sean W
    Hi,

For an up-to-date list of end-of-service dates for each Windows 10 version, see the Windows lifecycle fact sheet.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet

Updates are cumulative, with each update built upon those that preceded it; you should always install the latest feature update (version), before your current version reaches end of service, to remain supported by Microsoft thru monthly quality updates.

Windows 10 Home and Pro follows the Modern Lifecycle Policy.
Windows 10 was released in July 2015, and extended support is slated to end in 2025.

Hope above information can help you.

Win10-1607 (Semi Annual Channel) <(Home & Pro) reached end of service on April 10, 2018. Devices running Windows 10 Home or Pro editions will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates>

The statement you've picked up, (....still in extended support....) applies primarily to Win10 1607 LTSC and WindowsServer2016(1607).
You need to read down the whole article to know which EOS dates apply to which editions/platforms.

For Win10-1709, EDU and ENT editions end-of-service date was extended until October 13, 2020.
For Win10-1709, Home and Pro editions, EOS has already occurred April 9, 2019.

Which edition (Home/Pro/Education/Enterprise) and which platform (eg Clovertrail) and which channel (Semi Annual or LTSB/LTSC) are you wanting to clarify?
