Switching Microsoft Account on Windows 11

Hi,

I setup my Windows 11 Pro machine and in error I used my personal Microsoft Account. Now I want to switch to use my Work Account but I cannot work out how to do that.

I found an article that suggested switching to a local Windows Account which I did and I then unlinked my personal Microsoft account and deleted it. However, there is clearly something not right as I notice that the Calendar App is still linked to the deleted account. More importantly I cannot login to my desktop using my work account!

When I choose to switch to an online account it says the account doesn't exist when I know it does as I use it to login on my laptop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Andy

No. Personal Microsoft accounts and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts cannot be merged, but they can be used side by side.

Which account do you want to use?

IMO, you can continue using your personal Microsoft account. If you switched to local account, then again you can switch back to Microsoft account.

In order to use work or school account, you need to add it separately as shared in this guide:
