Zebra Barcode Scanner no longer able to capture control characters in latest Microsoft Edge browser versions

Our product enabled a Zebra barcode scanner, connected via USB to a PC (Window 10) , to enter scanned barcode data directly into a text field in our web application. The bar code consists of 4 separate elements that had been separated by control characters. Our software used these breaks to parse the data into the 4 respective fields. This all worked fine in Edge version (44.19041.1.0,) however with the latest versions - these control characters do not present.

I know that the updated code is now based on Chromium - and that our application sees similar behavior when we attempt to scan on Chrome - so my assumption is that this could be the cause.

My question is, are there any settings that I have overlooked that could once again produce this behavior (i.e. getting the control characters to display with the barcode data)?

Thanks
