If you install a different Hard drive then there will be no effect of bit locker on it.
bitlocker hard drive replacement
I have an old work laptop that has been sitting for about 6 or 7 months and the company doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get it back. This laptop has bit locker encryption on the hard drive, but I am wanting to play with more Linux on the side and it is a good laptop. My question is if I disable the Bit Locker in the BIOS and install a different hard drive so I can work on Linux, possibly a linux + cert, will that keep the bit locker disabled or will it re enable? I am new to bit locker and have limited knowledge with it and I have not had much luck finding any answer on the FAQs or forums.
I just figured I could disable bit locker, replace the hard drive and play with Linux and then when they decide if they want it back eventually I can put the old windows SSD in and return it, no harm.

The Bitlocker function works with the hard drive, and if the hard drive is replaced, Bitlocker will not be re-enabled.
