Active Directory Domain rename impact on Azure AD

Dear All,

We have a customer with OnPrem AD sync to O365 Azure Active Directory

They are using the below workloads in O365
-> Azure AD
-> Exchange Online
-> One Drive
-> Intune
-> Team/Yammer

There is no OnPrem Exchange Installed on the OnPrem environment

The customer would like to change their onPrem Active Directory Domain,

We would like to understand will this cause any service interruption / Downtime to O365 workloads, We could not come across document from MS explaining about the impact of OnPrem AD rename on Azure Active Directory and workloads on O365,

Hi,

Adconnect can assure the synchronization of multiple forest.

In your ad connect configuration, you can check which attribute used to identify user identity:

ADconnect-topologies

If the mail attribute are shoosen to identify the user account , you shoule set the same value on both forest to link all user identity on each forest to the same azure ad user account and keep access to exchange online , onedrive, licence ..ect..
