In trying to access my Toshiba 2tb External Hard drive from my new windows pc (the drive was originally formatted for a mac) the drive has lost/hidden its data and renamed itself New Volume (:D) Ive tried everything to recover the data but no luck, has the data (photos, documents ect..) actually deleted? its showing space is being used up but I cant access it. Maybe the formatting has gone wrong somewhere but i dont know how to reverse it back to the way it was when I was using it on my mac.

    Hello,

Usually formatting the disk will erase all contents on it. You need to deploy data recovery software to get the data back.

If the drive is not recognized on Windows, it may be formatted with Mac's file system. I recommend you to follow this guide and format it with Windows supported file system to get it recognized:

    Hope this helps!
