I get the impression that the error message comes from Photo Atlas application, not the SQL Server installation itself. SQL 2005 should have no issue with the Intel processer, no matter if it's 32-bit or 64-bit SQL Server.

It is possible to install SQL 2005 on Windows 10 and WIndows 11, but it does require tweaks. If you you run Setup and press Next, Setup will fail. If you want to know the tweaks, Google is your friend. (I say so, because I don't remember the tweak on the top of my head.)

Then again, if you install SQL Server manually, you might as well install a newer version. Assuming that is that Photo Atlas does not check the SQL Server version. And for that matter, Photo Atlas is prepared to use an existing SQL Server instance at all.

    Hi @Writhdar ,

As you can see, the error is 'This version of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is not supported for the current processor architecture'.
You can refer to the prerequisites for installing SQL Server 2005.
    268807-image.png
However, the Intel i7 series is all 64-bit.
So you have two options, one is to change the processor or install a 64-bit SQL Server. the SQL Server 2005 version is too old. You can choose a newer SQL Server if your operating system allows it.
    Using SQL Server in Windows

    Best regards,

SQL Server 2005 Express will not work with processor on new PC

SQL Server 2005 is out-of-support since a very long time, so you can not expect it's supports current OS or hardware.

The process for notifying me of responses is labyrinth to say the least.
I only became aware of these answers when I just did a DuckDuckGO search on the SQL - I did not get any emails on this and it was very difficult to find these on the Q&A.

So, thank you for the responses. From ES's answer, I found https://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-SQL-Server-2005-Express-Edition-Service-Pack-4/3001-10254_4-75452276.html and this allowed me to install the SQL 2005 and then the Photo Atlas. I now have some issues with the Photo Atlas on the new PC but I will try to work through them.
