If I want the report module.

Must I only install SQL Reporting Services (SRSS) on the same SQL DB?
Or I can install SQL Reporting Services on another server like a Management Server and configure the SRSS but create a new reporting DB on the SQL DB server.
Then I install the SCOM Reporting Server on the Management Server.

I tried this setup but when I install Reporting Server, it will fail even if SCOM installation pass the pre-requisite checks.
If I install SRSS on the SQL DB and then Reporting Server, then it will be okay.

    Hi @Lim Chong Sun ,

The SCOM Reporting feature must be installed on the server where the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is installed, the Reporting feature & the SSRS can located on any server, it can be a dedicated server, a management server, the database server etc...

Make sure to use the same version for SQL Server Reporting Services as the SQL Server used by the SCOM database & data warehouse.

If your Reporting feature is failing to install, please provide the exact error, I also suggest you to check the SCOM installation log over here:

    • %LocalAppData%\SCOM\LOGS\OpsMgrSetupWizard.log

Thanks. I am able to install now. I suspect is you need to open other ports on the SQL DB other than just 1433.
